In an increasingly unstable world, where those in power are looking inwards rather than outwards, the need to discuss societal issues is more important now than ever. Bringing the DC area’s youth community together, GIN serves to inspire the youth of today to become the social leaders of tomorrow. We are the next generation of great minds. We are the future and our time is now.
Communication is the fundamental first step in working towards a better future. One must first understand a problem to be able to work towards solutions and as Albert Einstein once said: “Of I had an hour to solve a problem I’d spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes thinking about solutions.” As one great mind illustrates, discussion and understanding is the key to progress on a solution.
Hundreds of students from more than twenty schools gathered on George Washington university’s downtown DC campus, to discuss issues pertinent to many societies around the world, with a focus on deepening our understanding of the issues and developing possible solutions with our creative and forward-thinking minds. Featuring breakout sessions in small groups as well as keynote speakers including Joy Robertson, Douglas Jackson, Jon Greenberg, and Angelica Silvero who will be speaking about a broad range of global issues as well as steps that are being made in the right direction, the Global Issues Network Conference 2017 unites the youth of today to fight for what they believe in, follow their dreams, and collaborate to create a vision for a better future and make that vision a reality.
