WIS Meets Ms. Howard

WIS+Meets+Ms.+Howard

As we get further into the new year, we have to make sure that we are well acquainted with our new faculty and staff. That said, many people already know Ms. Adrienne Howard, who is always there to greet you with a warm smile even when you come in late and unexcused.

Ms. Howard grew up near the DC area, in Lynchburg, Virginia (a little over three hours away). Though she may be local, WIS’ newest assistant to the upper school principal is certainly well-traveled . Her husband is in the Navy, and she and her family have moved exactly seventeen times. Her favorite places to live in are Norway, Bahrain and Hawaii.

If any of you like to hike, share your interest with Ms. Howard, a devoted hiker. Though she hasn’t had much time to do it since coming to DC, one place she has gone to is Big Sky Meadow Park, in Delaplane, Virginia. If anybody has any suggestions for hiking places, don’t hesitate to tell her! Aside from hiking, Ms. Howard also enjoys traveling, hanging out with her kids, and reading.

Though it is only Ms. Howard’s first year at WIS, she mentioned how she already feels at home here. “The kids are great, [the] teachers are great, it’s a good place to be,” she said. She also happily noted that everybody knows her name, commenting about how she is working on learning everyone else’s’. In a couple of months, we’re sure that she’ll have them all down.

There is no doubt that Ms. Howard has been an asset to the WIS community already. Mr. Markus said how, “she has made my life and Mr. Spezzano’s life so much easier because she has created systems that have improved how we do many of the things we do.” It is clear that Ms. Howard is a blessing to have here at WIS, with the principal singing her praises. With that, we welcome Ms. Howard to WIS and wish her a great year!
