The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise has spanned over 10 years, releasing many incredible films and Marvel’s newest film, “Eternals,” is no exception. In this film, Marvel introduces an entirely new superpowered team known as the Eternals to the MCU.

The movie begins with a prologue detailing how Earth is protected by a group of immortal beings known as the Eternals from supernatural beasts known as the Deviants. The Eternals have to work against the clock to save everyone and everything they hold dear as a catastrophic event approaches. They face betrayal, moral dilemmas of duty versus love and supernatural threats.

“Eternals” is a highly anticipated action adventure film, starring many household names such as Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington, Richard Madden and Gemma Chang. The movie is directed by Golden Globe, Oscar and Academy Award winning director Chloé Zhao.

Viewers who watch it in theaters have an immersive experience, losing themselves in the cinematic and fantastical world of the Eternals. Additionally, longtime Marvel fans will find that this movie measures up quite well to many of the other films. 

One unique aspect of “Eternals” is that it is made up of a dynamic and diverse cast of characters, including characters who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community, the deaf community and many different ethnicities and races. Marvel’s choice to diversify its cast allows the movie to be more open and relatable to a larger audience. 

The movie has a lot to cover as it introduces many new characters, yet each character is still well developed and independent. The actors all bring their characters to life despite having minimal screen time. 

However, some critics point out the film’s weaknesses,  including the pace at which the plot line unravels and how the film switches between the past and present. 

Nonetheless, considering this is the first time Zhao has made this type of blockbuster film, its quality is especially impressive. Zhao adds her personal touch by including nature through wide range shots, grounding the film in reality while still bringing to life a fictional world. 

While the movie’s storyline is heavy hitting and sad at times, the actors bring comedy into the mix, allowing for a very well rounded film. As a whole, this film is a definite hit.

For those who enjoy a good Action and Adventure movie combined with the supernatural, “Eternals” is a must watch.
