Submit to Dateline!
Dear WIS students, faculty, and staff,
You are all invited to submit to the International Dateline! Think of Dateline as a student-led platform for students, in which our ideas, interests, and reporting can actually get published. This way, we can start discussion points that are interesting and relevant to us. The point of a newspaper is to both reflect and impact the voice of the community we represent. Dateline is a manifestation of WIS, so make your mark!
What’s stopping you?

If these are your concerns, forget them! None of these factors are real issues if you want to submit to Dateline. Here’s a quick guide of things to think about if you want to submit to Dateline:
1. “I’ve never taken journalism!”
That’s okay! Any member of the WIS community who has something to say is allowed to submit. Below we’ll provide you with a quick guide to the basics of journalism.
2. “I’m not on the Dateline staff!”
If you’re a member of the WIS community who has something to say, you are eligible to submit to Dateline.
3. “I don’t want to write an article”
No worries! There are other types of content that don’t require as much time on your feet or researching. Here are some options that aren’t just your average news article:

| One of the main benefits of submitting to Dateline is the opportunity to get your voice heard. What is a better way to do that than sharing your opinon? Opinion pieces are usually about 500 words and express the viewpoint of the writer. An opinon piece can be about a WIS issue, but it could also focus on local, national, or global issues. A letter to the editor is a shorter opinon piece, reacting to a Dateline article or an issue on campus. Learn more abut letters to the editor here. | |
