Go-Go is a type of funk music created by African-Americans originating in the Washington, D.C. area during the mid-1960s through late-1970s. The genre of music focuses on its call and response aspect which engages the crowd. Go-Go remains popular in the area and is an identifier of D.C. culture. Here is a brief history of Go-Go in D.C.
